Attack Poverty Disaster Recovery provides immediate and Long Term Recovery including food and donation distribution, muck and gutting, home repair and rebuild.  We also distribute preparedness kits and do home repairs to help mitigate disasters.

Rebuilding our community one day at a time by providing True Affordable Housing and Disaster Recovery service too low to moderate-income Communities.

Restoring homes and families after disaster

Mission: BACC-DR assists in identifying the unmet needs of those affected by disasters and coordinates access to resources to aid relief. Services are provided without preference to individuals’ race, color, creed, gender, disability, or religious affiliation.

Services Provided During Non-Disaster Times:

Adult Education – Programs are geared to the adult learner: English as a Second Language (ESL), ESL-Civics, Intensive English/Workplace Literacy, High School Equivalency (formerly Graduate Equivalency Diploma/GED), Integrated Education and Training (IET) which combines HSE with college certification, and Digital Literacy.

Charter Schools. The Promise Community School District, a public charter school district, designated as a Local Education Agency,

Community Centers – Operates six (6) communities through community centers across greater Houston with programs that focus on holistically meeting the educational, economic, social and wellness aspirations of neighbors through programs such as: entrepreneurship training, health and wellness classes, civic engagement and voter registration, immigration assistance and citizenship classes, voter registration, art and cultural programming, youth development and various others.

Early Head Start/Head Start – Children and their families are provided this high quality, early education program that guarantees kindergarten readiness for low-income children who will eventually enter the public school system. This program also operates the Sharp Early Childhood Development Center.

Workforce – The Workforce division administers the Gulf Coast Workforce Board contracts for operation of the Career Offices and the Financial Aid Payment Office in Houston, as well as contracts with the Workforce Solutions boards of Coastal Bend, East Texas, and Rural Capital areas. In addition, Workforce administers homeless veterans programs with funding from the U.S. Department of Labor and the Veteran’s Administration, as well as a neighborhood workforce program designed to address the region’s middle-skills gap by providing low income workers with the education and training needed enter high skill-high demand occupations in partnership with area colleges, training providers and employers.

Senior Services – Programs focus on one or multiple aspects of helping seniors age well – with other health and wellness initiatives of the agency under one umbrella.

TXCDR (Texas Congregational Disaster Readiness) is a comprehensive, collaborative, and coherent action plan to enable Congregations to work together to expedite relief and recovery in communities impacted by a disaster.
