Due to the collaborative nature of the LTRG, mobilization may occur quicker. The LTRG maintains an executive committee that includes chairs for disaster case management, volunteers, construction, unmet needs, and public and behavioral health.

Formed shortly after Hurricane Harvey, but with roots going back to Hurricane Ike, as a A FEMA sanctioned Long-Term Recovery Group. Provides Coordinated management of the long-term recovery process; Assistance to individuals and families affected by disasters who do not have adequate personal resources for their unique recovery needs; Advocacy for our county's most vulnerable residents especially seniors, individuals with access/functional needs, and lower income families to recover to a safe, sanitary and functional status. Accomplishments include: After Hurricane Harvey -Community assessments, outreach and data collection. -Direct case management for 848 families. -With partners, repair or reconstruction of 562 homes. -Advocacy with GLO Homeowner Assistance Program on behalf of 1412 families. -Direct advocacy with GLO and other agencies on crafting program parameters. Since Hurricane Harvey, support for the County includes -Several apartment fires. -Winter Storm Uri and other weather events. Managing COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program. -Ongoing on behalf of the County. -Have dispersed over $5 million assisting over 3000 families.
